Shortly after the start of Russia's war against Ukraine in February 2022, Berlin-based artist Mila Teshaieva travelled to her (and mine) hometown Kyiv. Her diary contains personal records of the first months of the war in words and images.

Mila’s war diary shot in Ukraine (Bucha, Irpin, Kyiv, Lviv) was exhibited at Museum of European Cultures in Berlin.
We collaborated to create the exhibition layouts in English and German.

This project was very personal to me: my friends and loved ones were in Ukraine at the time of full-scale invasion started. Even worse, my whole family was in occupation for 16 days in Kyiv Oblast, and got out alive by miracle.

I’m posting this project here not only to showcase the range of my design abilities. Thi is a reminder that the horrible genocidal war is still happening in my home country, and Ukraine needs constant support to keep standing and fighting for its freedom.
