How I work
We work together.

Whether you know exactly what you want or are prepared to give me total freedom, I’ll ask a lot of questions and apply the same process to almost any project.

If we’re talking identity, for example, there are five stages we’ll go through: discovery, check-up, approach, concept(s) delivery, and implementation. Take a look at these slides for a brief explanation of each of them.

While I’m flexible and open to experimentation, there are only a few corners I’m willing to cut if we’re short on time. If you’re a new client, we’ll definitely need to go through all of the stages. I need to study your context, goals, and competition, and then check my conclusions against your expectations.

If we’ve worked together before, you probably aren’t reading this—we’re already talking shop. We can skip intro and move much faster because we share a common vocabulary, set of tools, and trust. Still, we’ll need to trust the process.

I normally operate as a one-person design studio, but when a project is bigger and more complex, I assemble a Voltron from my professional network: animators, motion designers, type designers, 3D artists, and illustrators.

If you’d like to discuss any kind of project or collaboration, I’d be happy to hear from you.

Some facts
I come from a communication background.

I studied journalism at university, with a strong focus on visual media: photography, documentaries, film, art, and communication design. This is where my investigative approach comes from, and why the idea of semantically accurate design sits at the core of my practice, alongside a search for strong aesthetics.

I’m Ukrainian and currently living in Porto, Portugal.

When I’m not working, I sail, swim, and make art objects from various materials. You can check it all out on Instagram.
